Globally, the psychological health of the people is affected due to COVID-19. During this ongoing coronavirus pandemic, when we are all bound to live a restricted life under the constant fear of infection risks, it is natural for anyone to develop anxiety. The continuous flow of negative news, the inadequacy of daily resources, everything is adding to this growing anxiety and depression. Being confined at home for such long periods of time, can be mentally challenging for us. Stress can cause all these health issues and in such situations, yoga can help us to stay calm. The posture and asanas of yoga help us to reduce muscle tension, joint issues and relax our sympathetic system, resulting in a relaxed mind. There are a lot of yoga poses which help us to manage our blood pressure level and anxiety. Yoga also teaches us to regulate our breath, which can make a person feel relaxed and at peace.
The Yogic lifestyle is all about taking care of our body and mind to keep them fit and healthy, given by the most healthy and happy people, our rishis. Only a healthy body and a happy mind can offer creativity, positivity and meaningful contributions. Therefore, the sooner we realize the importance of managing our body and mind, the better it is for us and everyone around us.
A lifestyle rooted in the discipline of Yog enhances our power to process diverse information and experiences without getting stuck. When I say Yog, I am not limiting Yog to only physical exercise, but holistic well-being of body, mind, emotions and spirit. Yog increases our focus, creativity and productivity and also builds inner strength to overcome everyday challenges. Apart from the spiritual benefits, Yog also offers amazing physical, emotional and psychological benefits and a healthy, happy and successful life.
