yā niśhā sarva-bhūtānāṁ tasyāṁ jāgarti sanyamī

Bhagwad Gita- 2, 69
“What all beings are awakened, is the night of ignorance for the wise, and what all creatures see as night is the day for the introspective sage.”
अहमात्मा गुडाकेश सर्वभूताशयस्थित: | अहमादिश्च मध्यं च भूतानामन्त एव च ||
aham ātmā guḍākeśha sarva-bhūtāśhaya-sthitaḥ aham ādiśh cha madhyaṁ cha bhūtānām anta eva cha
Bhagwad Gita- 10, 20:
“O Arjun, I am seated in the heart of all living entities. I am the beginning, middle, and end of all beings.”
Those who are in material consciousness look to material enjoyment as the real purpose of life. They consider the opportunity for worldly pleasures as the success of life, or "day,” and deprivation from sense pleasures as darkness, or “night.” On the other hand, those who have become wise with divine knowledge, see sense material enjoyment as harmful for the soul, and hence view it as “night.” They consider rejoicing in the spirit and seeing God everywhere as elevating to the soul, and hence look on it as “day.”
Unlike the Darwin theory of evolution where 'matter' is considered to be fundamental, Sanatan culture holds Divine Consciousness or Supreme Self to be the fundamental basis of existence and physical matter to be a phenomenon. Just as we confuse a rope with a snake when there is insufficient light, we confuse ourselves, the Divine Being we are to be some physical body and social roles when we lack spiritual insight.
Sanatan culture gives us the vision to see our self, Nature, all creatures, the entire Universe as our own manifestation, an extension of our own Divine Self. How can we think of cheating, exploiting and harming others when we realise that the other is no one but our own Self? Real human evolution is when we rise above the ideas of differences, duality and separation & function from the vision of oneness and togetherness. This definition of spiritual evolution must be kept in mind by every seeker who is committed to his own inner fulfilment and also well-being of all!
